We'd think it would help if you'd go out today, exercise your civic responsibility and cast a ballot in favor of the kids.
We don't always agree with Greg Harton at the NWArktimes, but he has some good points in his "editor's notes."
I’ve been amazed at the scare tactics opponents to the high school measure have used, primarily the one about how a “For” vote in the election is giving the school board a blank check to use the money for anything they want. Statements like that are almost enough to make me understand how South Carolinian U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson uttered “You lie” in the midst of President Obama’s address to Congress last week. The opponents are just hoping if they raise enough ludicrous questions that people will vote against the measure out of fear. The bonds proposed will be dedicated to the high school project, which includes technology improvements and the like. But this is no bait-and-switch tactic on the part of the elected Fayetteville School Board. The opponents can find legitimate grounds to argue against the FHS proposal (although I still find a vote “For” the project the most sensible). It’s disappointing they’ve chosen to make up false claims rather than make real arguments.
Greg, we've got to scratch our heads here. We don't know why you're so suprised these people would make shit up. Can't you remember the stuff Laurie Masterson and her friends did in the past? That's their MO - they make shit up.
Go out there today and help the kids - prove you don't buy the bs pushed by the wingnuts in town.
From The Editor\’s Desk - Should recession sway FHS vote today?
