Conservative television dirtbag Glenn Beck, formerly of CNN, now of FOX, is none too happy with the domain name glennbeckrapedandmurderedayounggirlin1990.com (website is down). Beck's lawyers are attacking this satirical website, which has only been up for one week, on the grounds that the very domain name is defamation. That's right, the url, apart from the contents. Apparently the whole thing started with Fark and Gilbert Gottfried.
Lawyers for TV Uberdouche Glenn Beck go after satirical website, saying the url itself is defamatory - Boing Boing
Doesn't change the fact Beck is insane, and needs to be kicked off the air.
But strange....

He needs to be kicked off of the air? Chris, I thought you were a proponent of free speech, whether of not you liked what the person had to say. Is it because he is exposing massive amounts of corruption inside the obama admin that you think he should be kicked off the air? Yeah maybe his mannerisms at time seem a little out there, but that doesn't change the fact that he is an excellent journalist.
...by Murdoch, by advertisers, by viewers, Isaac. Not by the government, not by the non-existent "fairness doctrine." That much you've got right - we don't agree with Beck, and yes, we question his stability and even sobriety, but we'll defend to the death his right to say it (just not his right to have a huge platform paid for by ads and Newscorp, but that's not our say.) As for "exposing massive amounts of corruption" we have yet to hear anything he's said that measures up to say a Vitter or Abramoff or Madoff or even a former head of FEMA or Dick Cheney. And, Isaac, his mannerisms don't "seem out there" they ARE "out there" and he's not a journalist. Take it from someone who was one - he ain't it. He doesn't even claim that - most journalists don't go around the country on crazed tea-bagger "comedy tours" or write books which show a total and complete understanding of political philosphers like Paine. I understand if you find him entertaining, and if he reflects your own views so you like him - hell, I'm partial to Jon Stewart and Colbert myself - but they aren't journalists, now matter how many times non (or former) journalists like Bill O'Reilly would try to convince you of that. I think people should vote with their feet, as they say - or rather with their remote controls. After all, even though Beck likes to say he has the largest audience on cable, that audience is still small enough (about 2 mill) that it would fit nicely in a burrough of NYC or a corner of Chicago or LA. His audience isn't that big, and he gets waaaaaay more attention that he warrants. He also makes things up, which we find troubling when we know some people think he's talking bible-truth. Far be it from us to censor him - how many of his riduculous video clips have we - and you - posted here? The worst (or best in this case) thing we could do would be to simply ignore him. As it is, I tend to think we pay the lunatic too much attention. Maybe we'll have a "Glenn Beck 9-12" moratorium on his crap here, which would be fitting.
What ever the claim about Beck being a loon, the numbers put him at number one for his time slot. Numbers that make NBC and CNN green with envy.
So, it looks like people ARE voting with their remotes.
I do find it interesting that for a guy whom you claim is no journalsit, he has brought one of Obama's picks for advisor down in flames, and doing nothing more than using the man's words againt him.
It was more expose than journalism, true, but it did have a positive effect, and nobody has really been able to dispute Beck's listing of corruption.
The only thing they seem capable of doing is going after the messenger.
