FAYETTEVILLE REMAINS FREE

Couldn't let this pass without a quick comment. After saying the Fayetteville School District wouldn't have students watching the President's speech on Tuesday, the District relented. Much kudos to our friends at the Flyer for helping to foment unrest over this.

We couldn't have said it better ourselves, and Max at the ArkTimes sums it up best in a quick post, though for our money, the comments which bang Laurie Masterson are pretty enjoyable as well. We'll say one thing for her, she just won't quit, and that makes her an interesting adversary, even though we maintain serious questions about her motives, as always.

What we find more troubling is the weak nod to the bagger crowd given by the new super Vicki Thomas, who we don't know. All we know is that this kind of thing probably wouldn't have happened under Bobby New's direction - and didn't when the big book brouhaha popped up a few summers back. This troubles us, and we sure wish Ms. Thomas would get her proverbial shit in one sock before bending to this kind of pressure again. We'd imagine the flack she took from the solidly freedom loving (and overwhelmingly Democratic) parents of the district probably gave her a bit of an interesting reminder that she isn't in Texas anymore.

Vicki, we're pretty sure there's more insanity coming down the pipeline, which you should steel yourself for right now, or risk a major uprising by a citizenry pretty PO'd about the events of the last 8 years, and ready to fight all the way to prevent tentherism and baggers from having much, if any say, in public education. After all, don't they all homeschool?

Your dissenting opinion welcome.
